CPL Reads! brings Cambridge together through one shared story and there's no better story to share as a community than bestselling author Shari Lapena’s new thriller, Getting Away with Murder.
CPL Reads! is Cambridge Public Library’s inaugural community reading experience to encourage residents to read the same book and connect through shared conversations and book clubs. This culminates in a final evening with Shari Lapena on October 30.
“I am absolutely delighted that my thriller, Getting Away with Murder, has been chosen for Cambridge Public Library’s inaugural CPL Reads! I have always loved libraries, and I love the idea of a community coming together to read and share discussions about one book - so this is a real honour. I look forward to seeing you on October 30 for a fabulous discussion!” - Shari Lapena, best-selling author
“Cambridge Public Library is excited to host this shared experience where Cambridge reads together. We have prepared book club bags, a reading guide, and additional copies of Getting Away with Murder in print, eBook, and eAudiobook. By reading the same book, sharing ideas, and connecting through conversations, we celebrate the power of books to strengthen community and create meaningful connection.” Carroll Chapman, Manager, Clemens Mill
To help readers make the most of their conversations, CPL Reads! has created a book club reading guide for Getting Away with Murder. The guide offers conversation starters and thoughtful prompts to help book clubs, families, and individual readers explore the novel’s characters and themes together. Whether you’re gathering with an established group or starting an informal discussion with friends, the guide is an easy way to spark conversation and connect with fellow readers across Cambridge.

So when Ted's inheritance runs out and he makes a bad investment, they panic. How can they protect their beloved home and enviable lifestyle? The answer is obvious. Or at least, it is obvious to Jill and Ted. The death of one wealthy family member -- from whom they stand to inherit millions -- could solve all their problems. Together, they will get away with murder. As long as they trust each other. As long as neither makes a mistake. As long as there are no surprises ...
