Creative Pride
Let Pride Month celebrations inspire your creativity with these fun events:
- Transform your wardrobe by modifying, fixing, and trading clothing with queer community members at Out of the Closet: Queer Clothing Upcycle and Exchange (Wednesday, June 3). Cricuts, sublimation materials, and fabric paint will be available for use in the Old Post Office Makerspace.
- Using simple cardboard looms and vibrant yarns, participants of all ages at Weave Your Pride: Rainbow Looms for All
with Alisa McRonald (Thursday, June 4), will learn the basics of weaving while creating a meaningful piece to take home. This hands-on Cambridge Art Galleries workshop is hosted in the studio at Queen's Square. - Read a selection of bright, inclusive stories that embrace different identities and families in a warm, welcoming space at Pride Storytime (Saturday, June 6) in Hespeler. After storytime, kids can enjoy a hands-on craft to get creative and express what makes them unique.

Celebrate Pride Month with books that highlight the diverse voices and experiences within the rainbow of human love and identity.
Check out Pride & Prose: 2SLGBTQ+ Stories for Adults , Queer Lit for All, Queer Historical Romance, and Sapphic Selections for some recommended titles for you to borrow during June and throughout the year.
Families can also enjoy Books for Families Under the Rainbow, a collection of picture books that celebrate the beautiful 2SLGBTQIA+ community.
Whether you are seeking new LGBTQS+ Fiction, classic queer novels, exciting mysteries, or engaging fantasy and sci-fi, or can’t get enough romance, your library has reading lists just for you, including Pride Romance for Adult Readers and Pride & Pages: 2SLGBTQ+ Stories for Teens. Find stories that reflect you or acquire a new perspective by exploring the wide range of unique and vibrant voices in modern storytelling.
If you interested in a a welcoming and safe space to connect with 2SLGBTQIA+ readers and share book recommendations, check out the Queer Book Society (Thursday, June 4) at Clemens Mill. There’s no assigned reading — bring yourself and a book (or two) you’ve enjoyed recently.

History, culture, and community
Beyond celebration, Pride Month is also a time to recognize the history of queer culture and the ongoing prejudice faced by members of the 2SLGBTQIA+ community. To learn more about the history of Pride and the lives of 2SLGBTQIA+ individuals, explore non-fiction titles.
