Whether you're dreaming of becoming a solo artist or starting an indie band, your library has the technology and instruments to help you get started. No experience necessary—all skill levels welcome!
Musical Instruments
Your library has several musical instruments to borrow, including keyboards and acoustic, electric, or bass guitars. New to the music collection is a 5-string banjo! Borrow this unique instrument to see if it fits with your sound.
There are also ukuleles to borrow—perfect for group jamming or solo practice.
Learn and Connect
If you're interested in learning to play the ukulele, Connections 50+ is hosting a Learn to Play Ukulele program at Hespeler on Wednesday, May 27. To join a group, there are two evening ukulele meet-ups at the library: Tuesdays at Queen's Square and Thursdays at Hespeler, starting at 6:30 pm.
Tech to Borrow
The iPad collection has recently expanded. There are now several iPads across three generations available to place on hold and borrow with your library card. Log in to your Apple account and use the device for your band's administration needs, display musical scores, and more.
Tech at the Old Post Office Creative Studios
When you're ready to move into the studio, the Old Post Office has you covered with two Audio and Video Recording Rooms you can book, featuring industry-standard software on Mac and PC. Borrow musical instruments for in-library use, as well as microphones and a pedal board.
If you're still learning the software, book a Tech Help 1-on-1 with a Creative Studios staff member to get personalized guidance.
Perform Live
When you're ready to get up in front of an audience, the Old Post Office hosts an Open Mic night on the last Thursday of each month. The next Open Mic night is Thursday, May 28.
Enjoy your musical journey and rock on!
