Library service desks can be busy places and sometimes it isn’t easy to make out every word in a conversation, especially for those who are hard of hearing. This is an instance in which Cambridge Public Library’s new AuraLoop+ assistive hearing devices can help to make using library collections and services more accessible and welcoming.
Clearer Conversations
The AuraLoop+ Counter System is placed on the counter of a library service desk. The attached gooseneck microphone captures speech and sends it directly to telecoil-enabled hearing devices, Auracast-enabled devices, or to the included amplified earpiece for those without compatible devices. By sending sound directly to the listener, it improves speech clarity and reduces the impact of distance and background noise.
The AuraLoop+ can transmit to the following compatible devices:
- Telecoil hearing aids and cochlear implants
- Auracast-enabled hearing aids and cochlear implants
- Auracast-enabled smartphones, earbuds and headphones
Just the Right Volume
AuraLoop+ also uses AGC audio processing for automatic control of recording levels in transmitting sounds to devices. This means you don’t need to worry about sudden loud noises or fluctuations in volume and can focus on what’s important: getting the most from your time at the library.
AuraLoop+ at Your Favourite Location
As part of Cambridge Public Library’s ongoing commitment to accessible services, we now offer the AuraLoop+ at a service desk at each library location. Staff would be delighted to help you connect to the system with your compatible hearing support for improved sound volume and clarity during your visits.
