Ontario Seniors — Let’s Get Moving

June is Seniors Month in Ontario, and this year’s theme, Ontario Seniors — Let’s Get Moving, celebrates the many ways older adults can stay active, connected, creative, and engaged.

At Cambridge Public Library, getting moving can mean more than physical activity. It can mean trying something new, joining a conversation, exploring a hobby, or discovering services that support wellness, social engagement, and lifelong learning.

Move, learn, and connect

Connections 50+ offers programs designed for older adults, including local musicians, guest speakers, art activities, hands-on workshops, and more.

This June, get moving with:

Connections 50+ also presents Cambridge Third Age Learning lectures. On Friday, June 26, join Reimaging Tourism through the Lens of Care with speaker Dr. Karla Boluk at the Old Post Office.

Registration is required for Connections 50+ programming, but programs are offered at no cost. For assistance, call 519-621-0460.

You can also connect through Book Clubs and Meet-Ups at your library.

Move with library collections

Stay active indoors and outdoors with sports and fitness equipment from the Active Living Collection at Clemens Mill, including table tennis, pickleball, croquet, strength grips, hiking poles, and more.

Try something creative with Hobbies and Crafting Kits from the Unusual Things to Borrow collection, including crochet, card making, embroidery, jewellery beading, bird watching, and more. Also available from the Unusual Things to Borrow collection are park passes, musical instruments, and garden tools for more creativity and outdoor activity.

If you or someone in your life is experiencing dementia, explore Dementia-Friendly Books and Memory Kits, designed to support conversation, connection, and shared activities.

Move at your own pace

Your library is available wherever you are. Use the Virtual Library to access eBooks, eAudiobooks, magazines, newspapers, and films from home with Libby, Hoopla, PressReader, and Kanopy.

For those unable to visit the library for collection materials, Visiting Library Service partners trained volunteers with homebound clients to deliver materials, enjoy conversation, and build connection.

Keep moving together

Seniors Month is a time to celebrate movement in all its forms: staying active, keeping the mind sharp, connecting with others, trying something new, and accessing services that support well-being.

This June, let’s get moving together at your library, a place that belongs to the community and supports older adults in wellness, connection, lifelong learning, and thriving.
