Bestselling, award-winning Canadian authors visit Cambridge to discuss their newest releases and the stories behind them:
- Award-winning authors Kath Jonathan and Ann Y.K. Choi discuss the creation of their latest novels, The Resistance Painter and All Things Under the Moon on Friday, October 24 at Hespeler. Both books tell the stories of women who, during times of war, choose to resist, ultimately transforming their own lives and the lives of those around them.
- Author Ted Barris discusses his book, Rush to Danger, a telling of what medics experience in warfare as part of Connections 50+ Presents Cambridge Third Age Learning at the Old Post Office on Friday, November 28.

- Also part of Connections 50+ Presents Cambridge Third Age Learning, Colonel Jane Klugman of the Highland Fusiliers explores the proud heritage and continued service of the Royal Highland Fusiliers of Canada. Learn the of the history of the Royal Highland Fusiliers of Canada in Cambridge and their importance to the community on Friday, October 24 at the Old Post Office.
- Discover the significant roles that the Women’s Royal Canadian Naval Service (WRENS) made to the war effort on Wednesday, October 29 as LCdr Donna Murakami discusses their history at Queen's Square.
- On Thursday, November 7 at the Old Post Office, Dan Schmalz explores how you can learn more about a family member who served or other veterans through the resources of the City of Cambridge Archives and Records Centre. The Archives can help you uncover stories of courage and sacrifice of those men and women who have served Canada.
- Learn the stories of some of the brave Preston soldiers who lost their lives in World War I. On Monday, November 10, Connections 50+ Preston will feature a presentation about some of the Great War soldiers named on Preston's cenotaph.
Time of Remembrance
Remember the courage and sacrifice of those who heeded the call to serve:
- From November 8 to November 11, visit Hespeler to view the exhibition, When Daylight Comes: the Canadians on D-Day, provided to the library by Honouring Bravery. Honouring Bravery provides materials and exhibitions that share authentic stories of diverse Canadian heroes.
- On November 11, Royal Canadian Legion (Galt) Branch 121 presents its Remembrance Day ceremony at the Galt War Memorial in Queen’s Square. To complement the service, Queen’s Square will feature light refreshments and performances of wartime music in the lobby. A moment of silence will be observed as part of the program.
- Also on November 11, the Hespeler location will feature light refreshments to complement the Royal Canadian Legion (Hespeler) Branch 272 service.
