Settlement Services

The Kitchener-Waterloo Multicultural Centre provides a wide range of services to thousands of clients throughout Waterloo Region (and beyond). Through the Kitchener-Waterloo Multicultural Centre's Library Settlement Partnerships (LSP), settlement workers are located within libraries to continue to support and assist newcomers to our community and immigrant needs. Settlement workers can provide support with citizenship, housing, education, English language assessments, connecting with community resources, and much more. By placing settlement workers in the comfort and accessibility of local libraries, the LSP programs ensures support for our new neighbours as they work through their settlement needs in Canada.

To book an appointment, search Community Desk times on the events calendar or contact the Kitchener-Waterloo Multicultural Centre by phone 519-208-9582 or email: welcome@kwmulticultural.ca

Services Offered

  • Virtual settlement support to newcomers.
  • Information sessions relevant to newcomer needs in collaboration with Cambridge Public Library.
  • LSP staff provide orientation to library services and referrals.
  • Services available virtually, over the phone, and in-person on select days.

Further Information

The Library Settlement Partnerships (LSP) offers a unique and innovative newcomer information service in 11 communities throughout Ontario. This service includes one-on-one settlement information and referrals, group information sessions, and community outreach. Over 60 newcomer settlement workers from 23 agencies work out of the 49 locations of 11 public libraries in communities with high newcomer populations. Services are provided in a variety of languages, based on community needs.

The Library Settlement Partnership program is a partnership of Cambridge Public Library, Kitchener-Waterloo Multicultural Centre, and Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC).
